Sherrill Dillon, Dean of Students, LLEM Online Bible College
We are very excited to announce that Sherrill Alton Dillon will join LLEM Online Bible College as the new Dean of Students, effective immediately.
“My vision for LLEM Online Bible College is that our courses will open minds and spirits, encourage critical thinking and questions, allow students to hear God speaking to them, and open doors for dialogue with diverse ministries to be open to new and fresh understanding as they mature in their faith and discover the ministries God has for them,” Sherrill said.
Sherrill has Southern roots and was born and raised in Meadville, Mississippi. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Mississippi College, he went on to receive his Master of Divinity in biblical studies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also earned a Master of Arts in modern humanities from Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Maryland.
He went on to serve as the lead pastor of Third Street Baptist Church in New Orleans from 1974 through October 2015, when he retired from fulltime employment. In his earlier years, he served at Fellowship Baptist in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and Second Baptist in Cumberland, MD.
Sherrill has always had a heart for youth ministries. In addition to pastoring fulltime, he also served as Director of the YMCA in New Orleans. Additionally, he was Campus Minister while at Frostburg. He acted as Chaplain to Salem Children’s Home in Salem, WV, and a volunteer chaplain for Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.
Always looking for more opportunities to teach, he became a part-time instructor for Allegany College of Maryland, teaching Thanatos-Death and Dying and Intro to Philosophy.
Sherrill has been a long-time supporter of LLEM, and we are delighted that he will now lend his expertise in helping others explore the depth and breadth of the love of Christ.
Sherrill and his wife, Sheila, have five children and reside in the United States.
